5b2f Akira Sushi serves traditional sushi plus trendy specialty rolls, homemade Japanese ramen, healthy poke bowls, and inventive salads. Our restaurant specializes in carry out and delivery. We have a diverse menu suitable for satisfying everyone at company events and parties.

5b2f Akira was established in 2019. Akira and Kelly are back in business in their hometown Wilmette now. They established 153 Akira in June 2008.

5b2f Akira is their 3rd restaurant. They are delighted to come back to Wilmette.

What "5b2f" stands for

5b2f was inspired by a bible story about a boy with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. A young boy brought a lunch which has 5 loaves of bread and 2 fresh fish. The young boy gave Jesus his lunch with which Jesus transforms the boy's humble offering of lunch into fantastic feast enough to feed 5,000 people with 12 full baskets of food leftover.

We are inspired to be God's tool. When we give Jesus what we have (even though it is so tiny) Jesus feeds many people who need help.

Meet the Business Owner

Akira and Kelly are the original owner of 153 Akira in Wilmette downtown. They have experience in the restaurant business for 21 years. They have 2 daughters(Erin, Abigail) and 1 puppy(Angel).

Akira is a creative Sushi Chef who trained with famous Chef Ida Takahashi San (Tokyo Style) and famous Chef Kankaku Hiroshi San (Osaka Style). He has experience working at Bistro Pacific, Banzai, Wild Fish, Kegon, Kame Hachi, and other Japanese restaurants.

The executive kitchen chef Kankakku Hiroshi San has decades of exquisite culinary experience.

Kelly cares about the customer experience, trying to remember the customer's name and favorite food. She looks forward to every customer's happiness in her restaurant. She also looks for someone's prayer lists.
